Is Function Health worth $365 in 2026?

Function Health is worth $365 if you have almost no lab history and you will use two big panels. It is not worth it if you already have Quest and LabCorp results and only need a few markers. GoodLabs is pay-as-you-go. Code 20JO is 20% off a first paid order.

Function Health is the question people type. The real question is whether you need a yearly membership at all.

By Justin Odom Updated August 25, 2026 Not a doctor. I just keep my labs.

Why is everyone asking if Function Health is worth it?

Because $365 is real money, and the homepage makes it sound like you have no other way to get the tests.

People land on Function after a doctor would not order ApoB, or after a physical that skipped iron. The membership is a clean story: pay once, get a mountain of data, come back in six months. Those roundups skip paying per test. That is the gap this page is for.

I am not here to talk you out of Function if Function is the job. I am here to say $365 is worth it for one kind of year, and a tax on another. Head-to-head with the cart: GoodLabs vs Function Health.

How do the four options actually compare?

Function is the big yearly panel. Superpower is the cheap yearly panel. Rythm is the monthly kit. GoodLabs is not a membership.

What does a year actually cost?

Function is $365 whether you use 6 markers or 160. Superpower is $199 whether you test once or wish you had tested twice. GoodLabs is only the cart.

Your year Function Superpower GoodLabs (Quest prices, first order with 20JO)
No baseline, want the whole panel twice $365, mid-year redraw included $199 plus an extra panel if you test again Two comprehensive panels is $195 + $195 list. Function can win on tests per dollar here.
Have a baseline, recheck iron, thyroid, ApoB Still $365 Still $199, and a second test is extra Ferritin $9, TSH $5, ApoB $12, or Heart Health $55. First order 20% off.
Have years of Quest and LabCorp already Still $365, new silo Still $199, new silo Bring in the history. Buy the gaps.
Need one $9 ferritin in July You already paid $365 You already paid $199, or you buy an extra panel $9, or $7.20 with 20JO on a first paid order

If you will actually use Function's twice-a-year list, $365 can be a lot of tests per dollar. That is the honest win. If you already paid Quest last year and you only needed three markers this year, you are paying $365 to ignore data you own.

When is Function Health worth $365?

When you have almost no baseline and you will actually look at 160 markers twice.

Function is a real product. Quest-heavy draws, clinician notes, two panels a year. The public price is $365 in most states, down from $499. NY and NJ can cost more. Confirm on functionhealth.com.

Pay Function if:

  • You have almost no lab history and you want someone else to pick the list.
  • You want two draws scheduled for you, including a mid-year redraw.
  • Clinician notes are the product, not a nice extra.
  • You will look at the full panel, not three lines.

I am not going to pretend a $4 CBC is the same experience. If that is the job, pay Function and stop reading comparison blogs.

When is Function not worth $365?

When you already have years of results and you are about to pay $365 to pretend you do not.

If Quest and LabCorp already have your history, a membership that starts you in a new login is a second copy of data you paid for. If you only needed ferritin, thyroid, and ApoB this year, you can buy those. You do not need 157 extra markers to justify a yearly bill.

"A dollar a day" is a slogan. It is true as arithmetic. It is false as a test plan if half of those markers already exist in MyQuest.

Stay off Function if you recheck a handful of markers, if you bounce between Quest and LabCorp, or if you wanted a $9 ferritin in July without a renewal email.

Is Superpower worth $199 instead?

It is cheaper than Function. It is still a yearly panel.

Superpower lists $199 a year in most states, $399 in NY and NJ, for one 100+ panel, a dashboard, and a care team. Extra tests cost extra. Public pages have listed about $169 to $179 for another panel. Confirm at checkout.

Superpower wins if you want a cheaper first panel, you will not retest until next year, and a care team is part of the product. Superpower loses the moment you need ferritin again in six months. Details: GoodLabs vs Superpower.

Is Rythm Health worth $79 a month?

If you will not go to a lab. That is the whole decision.

Rythm Health, also searched as Rhythm Health, is an at-home kit. About $79 a month, 25+ markers, skip or cancel. $79 times 12 is $948 if you never skip. Some checkouts add kit and shipping on top of $79. Read the receipt.

It is not a Quest or LabCorp draw. A small sample is not a 75-marker venous panel. If a box on the counter is the only way you will test, Rythm can win on ease. If you already have years of Quest and LabCorp results, it starts a new line. Details: GoodLabs vs Rythm.

When is GoodLabs the cheaper move?

When you want the next test, not a new identity.

No subscription. Comprehensive Men's is $195, about $156 with 20JO on a first order. Heart Health is $55. Ferritin is $9. TSH is $5. ApoB is $12. Full menu: GoodLabs pricing.

Bring in what Quest and LabCorp already have. Buy a comprehensive panel only if the baseline is actually missing. Recheck single markers later.

If that's you, here's the move. 20JO is 20% off the first order. That's it.

How I would spend the first twenty minutes: how I use it.

GoodLabs loses if you want someone else to pick 100-plus markers and hold your hand. Function and Superpower are better at being a product. GoodLabs is better at being a lab order.

What if I live in New York or New Jersey?

Both memberships get more expensive. The cart does not grow a yearly surcharge.

Superpower is explicit: $399 in NY and NJ. Function notes extra state fees without always putting a clean number on the marketing page. Confirm current checkout on each site. Do not compare a California $199 Superpower price to a New Jersey Function quote and call that research.

GoodLabs still charges per test. Check the total at checkout, then apply 20JO on a first paid order.

How do you pick in one sitting?

If you want someone else to choose 100-plus markers and bill you yearly, pick Function or Superpower. If you already have lab history, pick the cart.

  1. Almost no baseline, want the biggest panel, twice, with clinician notes. Function. $365 in most states.
  2. Want a cheaper panel, one draw, a care team, and you will not retest until next year. Superpower. $199, or about $399 in NY/NJ.
  3. Will not go to a lab. Rythm. About $79 a month. Skip or cancel when you mean it.
  4. Already have Quest or LabCorp results, or you will recheck iron, thyroid, or ApoB before the year is over. GoodLabs. Pay per test. Code 20JO on the first paid order.

You do not have to pick a membership. Pay per test is still an option.

Best for

Avoid if

People who want the membership panel and will not look at a cart. Stay on Function or Superpower.
